The FC198SH combines mechanical temperature control, Super Freeze functionality, a removable storage basket, a hovering/counterbalanced lid, and a compact 802 × 559 × 854 mm design. It is a practical choice when you need generous freezer capacity without taking up excessive floor space.

Hisense FC198SH 199L Chest Freezer Key Features

1. 198–199L Storage Capacity

The Hisense FC198SH offers approximately 198–199 litres of freezer storage, making it suitable for households that buy groceries in bulk as well as small businesses requiring additional frozen storage. Different Kenyan listings round the capacity to 198L, 199L, or 200L, while the model and loading capacity are consistently associated with approximately 198–199L.

2. Mechanical Temperature Control

The freezer uses an adjustable mechanical thermostat, allowing you to regulate the cabinet temperature according to your storage requirements. Mechanical controls are straightforward to operate and are particularly useful for users who prefer simple, durable controls.

3. Super Freeze Function

The FC198SH features a Super Freeze function designed to rapidly reduce the temperature when you need to freeze newly added food. This is particularly useful after loading the freezer with fresh meat, fish, vegetables, or other groceries.

Some Kenyan listings specify temperatures as low as -30°C in Super Freeze mode. Because this figure is not consistently published across sources, it is better to describe the feature as Super Freeze rather than use -30°C as a guaranteed operating specification.

4. Removable Sliding Storage Basket

A removable/sliding basket helps keep smaller and frequently accessed items organized above the main freezer compartment. It can be removed when you need the full internal storage area for larger packages.

5. Hovering / Counterbalanced Lid

The FC198SH uses a spring-assisted hovering lid that can remain open at different angles, making it easier to load and unload food without continuously holding the lid. Some Kenyan listings specifically describe the lid as being able to remain open at approximately 30° and 60°.

6. Compact Design

Despite its approximately 198–199L capacity, the freezer has a relatively compact footprint of around 802 × 559 × 854 mm. This makes it practical for homes, shops, offices, restaurants, and other spaces where floor area needs to be used efficiently.

7. R600a Refrigerant

Kenyan import records identify the FC198SH as a 198L Hisense chest freezer using R600a refrigerant, with a 220–240V/50Hz electrical specification.

8. Manual Defrost

The FC198SH uses a manual defrost system. Manual defrosting allows accumulated ice to be removed periodically to maintain usable storage space and proper freezer operation.

9. White / Grey Finish

The FC198SH is commonly listed in a white/grey finish, giving it a neutral appearance suitable for kitchens, shops, restaurants, offices, and other commercial or residential spaces.

10. 2-Year Warranty

Multiple Kenyan listings specify a 2-year Hisense/manufacturer warranty for the FC198SH. Warranty terms should be confirmed on the warranty documentation supplied with the unit.

Hisense FC198SH 199L Chest Freezer Specifications

Specifications can vary slightly between published listings and production batches. The 802 × 559 × 854 mm dimensions and approximately 198–199L capacity are the most consistently reported specifications for the FC198SH.

Who Should Buy the Hisense FC198SH?

The Hisense 199L Chest Freezer is a good option for:

• Families that purchase meat and other groceries in bulk
• Homes that need additional freezer space
• Small supermarkets and convenience shops
• Butcheries and food businesses
• Restaurants and cafés
• Offices and institutions
• Small-scale frozen-food businesses
• Customers looking for a reasonably compact chest freezer with generous storage

Why Choose the Hisense FC198SH Chest Freezer?

The FC198SH offers a useful combination of large storage capacity and compact dimensions. Its mechanical temperature control is simple to operate, while the Super Freeze function is useful when adding larger quantities of fresh food.

The removable basket helps with organization, and the hovering lid makes loading and unloading easier. With R600a refrigerant, manual defrost, a spring-assisted lid and approximately 198–199L of storage, it is a practical freezer for both household and small-business use in Kenya.

Hisense FC198SH vs Smaller Chest Freezers

If you regularly buy meat, fish, frozen vegetables, ice cream or other frozen products in bulk, moving from a 140L-class freezer to approximately 198–199L gives you significantly more usable storage.

The FC198SH is therefore a useful middle-ground option: larger than compact household chest freezers while remaining smaller and easier to accommodate than many 250L+ commercial models.
